So I turned two last week. It was a babycool day. We went to the Zoo. I fed the Giraffes and Nana Carole made me a cake in the shape of an O for Otto and we picnicked in the Zoo grounds, near the Emu and an elegant cat called a Serval. But i realsied I had never shown you all what Nana and Poppa bought me when I turned one, which was a whole year ago. They gave me this cool race car, which I like even more now that I'm a big kid! Ma and Pa took me to the Wayne Youle exhibition at Pataka on the weekend. Apparently they had seen him give a talk at Suite in Newtown earlier in the year and were keen to check out his work. I think it's awesome. Look at his lolly pops both Hei Tiki and Skulls - he has an awesoem sense of humour. Has gang and biculutral referencing too apparently. All I know is that I'd be keen to meet this guy and have his works on my wall - he's babycool!

So New York is my favourite city. I haven't been there, but I know it is. It's like my home away from home, the place I feel I can most be me. Hmm, well Ma and Pa better take me there soon so I can find out.

The TWA Terminal at Kennedy airport is so babycool I just want to hop on my mini Vespa and ride all over it. Imagine scooting in that baggage hold!! Mr Saarinen really had an interesting mind, don't you think.

And of course going through LAX on the way to NYC. The only babycool thing about LAX is the LAX building, and that is 100% babycool.

Dadda bought Mamma one when I was in her tummy so that she could rock me to sleep. Ours is in Army Green. It's hot. It isnt Herman Miller though. It's Modernica, which if you can't afford original 60s is the best as it still uses the original molds and fibreglass.

The purple thing was in Claire's Design Folio e-letter today. It's purple Claire and it's a hot dog, what were you thinking? Might be quite fun though. Purple is definitely not babycool.

So Mommy had this great idea to commission Peter Stichbury to paint me. She wants me to have a great record of my youth and babycool babyhood. And she love, love, loves his work and me of course.

But she just about fell over when she found out one of his works sold for $42, 000 recently at an Art & Object auction. It was a painting of Lily Donaldson, who you wouldn't think I'd know as I'm not even two yet, but Mommy is addicted to Vogue, so I know Lily pretty well now. She's cute.

A little bit of fun for the weekend: German designer Felix Götze has created this rocking horse from old motorcycle parts. Apparently it’s for a little lad called Otto Komei, who is fascinated by the choppers coming out of the workshop opposite his house. Götze installed a two-stroke thumper of 150 cc with a slash-cut exhaust, because “everybody rides V2 four-stroke”. That sprung leather saddle is a neat touch, and so is the airbrushing by artist Thomas Weber. Who’s a lucky boy? I want one!

OK, so not even nearly as pimpin' as Mike Hailwood, however when the olds brought me back from Europe, nothing was more handy than my orange Trunki, a gift from Auntie Ems.

I stored my own gear, I scooted through Hong Kong customs... I was the centred of attention for kids who wanted one and Grandparents who wanted one for their Grandchildren.

Style tip for the travel tip, kids - every colour other than orange is gay and definitely looks Ryanair cabin class rather than Air NZ Koru Lounge!

Deus - Open in Auckland

Well, it's been a long time coming... Deus, Auckland, Shed 5 Cafe. And you already know how much I love Deus because of the babycool Ts. Well this is my #1 babycool Fluffy hangout. Located in an old warehouse in the ex Courier Post site off Wellesley Street, the cafe forms part of the Deus Ex Machina showroom; part gallery, part retail and part cafe.

The Deus dudes build custom bikes on site, and you can watch them do it whilst supping on said Fluffy. The entire space has an raw, yet thoughtful design ethos to it that makes you want to don a helmet and leather pants and be part of the action (well, Claire Sullivan from Design Folio wants to do that, not me).

Yep, Dad and Uncle were a bit more into it than me, I was keen to move on to IM Pei's pyramids, but I was happy to give them an excuse to hire one of the boats for the hour. And, it was pretty welcome relief on a this beautiful hot Paris day. Lots of kids around too, mostly playing with the sticks rather than the yachts.
